Rectangle / Square / Cube UAP
What if some unidentified aerial phenomena appear as rigid rectangular or cube-shaped objects capable of controlled flight without visible means of propulsion?
Rectangular, square, and cube-shaped unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) are among the less commonly reported object forms in UAP literature. Witnesses describe sharply defined geometric objects that appear to hover quietly or move with smooth, controlled precision despite their angular appearance.
The Box-Shaped Profile
Witnesses commonly describe these objects as solid rectangular, square, or cube-like forms with flat surfaces and sharply defined edges. Reported sizes generally range from approximately 30 to 150 feet (9 to 46 meters) across, although such estimates are often difficult to verify. Many accounts describe matte black, dark gray, or metallic surfaces with few visible structural details such as wings, engines, or exhaust.
Historical Sightings
Reports of rectangular and cube-shaped objects have appeared since at least the 1960s and have been documented in North America, Europe, and other regions. Although these reports are less common than those involving discs, spheres, or triangles, similar descriptions have appeared across multiple decades of civilian and aviation reporting.
Witnesses have reported these objects over urban areas, rural landscapes, transportation corridors, and locations near military facilities. Some cases involve multiple independent observers, including civilian pilots and other trained witnesses, although the quality and detail of individual reports vary.
Context: Angular, non-traditional object shapes have periodically appeared in UAP reports alongside more commonly described forms such as discs, spheres, and triangles.
Reported Flight Characteristics
Across multiple reports, witnesses have attributed a variety of flight behaviors to rectangular and cube-shaped UAP, including:
- Silent or nearly silent hovering.
- Slow, deliberate movement at low altitude.
- Rapid linear acceleration.
- Abrupt directional changes, including apparent right-angle turns.
- Little or no audible engine noise.
Some witnesses have remarked on the contrast between the objects' rigid geometric appearance and their reported smooth, steady motion. In a number of cases, observers have also described the objects maintaining a stable position despite windy conditions, although these reports have not been independently verified in every instance.
Possible Explanations
Possible explanations include conventional aircraft viewed under unusual conditions, atmospheric effects, optical illusions, classified technology, or genuinely unidentified objects. Some researchers have proposed speculative propulsion concepts that would operate independently of conventional aerodynamic lift, but no publicly available evidence confirms that such technologies are responsible for reported sightings.
